F18 carrier landing mission escorte3/4/2023 ![]() However, missiles are heat and radar guided. But for the most part, you want weapons that have good range and power. Like when fighters spawn from nowhere in the sky and dive down at you and kill you five seconds after you take off. There are exceptions (makes the game less boring). Aggressive manuever and weapons are designed for one purpose, and that is to engage the enemy at the longest range with as much firepower as possible. All missions are based on the concept of first strike. If you don't understand this concept, you have no business playing this game while real mil-pilots run sorties and panty raids because you do not understand the mind-set. Over G Fighters is a very realistic simulation of current military air combats. Note this option is not applicable for online play. Note you can land everytime with this option on (you can set this before taking the first mission on Expert) even if you are diving head first into the landing area at 1000+ KPH. Note that automatic doesn't apply to the landing/takeoff training missions or the mandatory takeoff for red (strategic) missions, but that's enough time out of your life already. This will let you press DOWN once on the D-PAD and your plane will automatically land on airstrips and carriers so you can refuel. Landing Auto VS Manual Put this on auto unless you're stupid. Manual dumping simply means you stop firing to press RED to dump counter-measures when a missile is launched at you. Dumping counters and then not evading will not do anything except make you tired. Note that missiles may be fooled by counter measures, but they will still try to track your plane. Chaff and flares are both dumped together, so the term is "counter measures". Chaff is infinite - some planes (A-10) does not have a voice to tell you about the chaff being used. Counter Measures Auto VS Manual You might want to leave on auto if you want to focus on evading. Manual makes you think more about the weapons you bring to a sortie. This means you have to cycle through more weapons, but you can also hold YELLOW to turn off weapon mode, then tap it again to go to the top of the list. Weapons Auto VS Manual Unless you like the computer selecting the most effective weapon for you, opt for manual control. In arcade mode, the buttons default to the original setting. On realistic mode, you can edit the button assignments in the options. If you are used to the stick turning your plane or character, you must leave it on arcade. Flightstick Arcade VS Realistic Realistic flight controls are not really realistic, since you don't have foot pedals for yaw control. ![]() Expert should be one step up from the game's challenge, once you've played it a bit and learn more. You cannot hose down a target with missiles and wait 20 seconds for the WEAPON CHARGE message to occur. This means the six missiles you take when you go into a sortie will be all you have to finish that mission. You have infinite ammunition in Beginner, but you need to land in a base or on a carrier to restock your missiles on Expert. The biggest difference between Beginner and Expert is the ammunition. Taito and Koei are two of the game developers (in-house teams) that have very good game manuals.īeginner VS Expert If you think you can run before learning to walk, go enlist in your local armed forces. Adjusting the options is the first step in playing this game. No one expects you to control a Joint Strike Fighter with USB game controller (like in Ghostbusters 2). This is a military simulation using arcade game controls. Since it is by Taito, expect the game to be true to genre. Basically the Xbox 360 version with tougher controls (guide buttons sux ass). Over G Fighters is Energy Airforce (from the PS2). The latest versions of the document, associated media and errata will always be first available at Fighter jets new jersey. This FAQ may not be published by any online property that is owned by, has affiliation with, is a partner to, or participated in any content sharing transaction (written, verbal, or otherwise) with CNET Networks, Inc.
